Introducing the Swedish Lewy Body Network
Background: Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) is a common yet underdiagnosed dementia. The prevalence of DLB can vary widely across studies and ranges between 0and 24%have been seen. Clinical features include a wide range of symptoms of cognitive, psychiatric, motor, behavioural andsomaticnature.Due to the progressive nature of DLB,patients with DLB will need municipal care. To highlight the challengesassociatedwith DLB we are launching a national network,we want to reach researchers, clinicians, and care professionals in all type of settings that may encounter DLB.
Method: First we used word of mouth recruitment and have now added recruitment via different scientificand care related events. We are organising hybrid meetings with lectures and opportunityfor networking for members
Results: There is a great interest in joining in and collaborating with a focus on DLB. The membershipnumbers are approaching 100and we have members from multiple regions and professional backgrounds. We have also helped members connect with each other and potentially solve problems together.
Conclusion: To increaseknowledge, awarenessand to foster collaboration we have formed a network for clinicians, care professionals and researchers.
