From Josefin Wångdahl
The lecture underscores the importance of addressing health literacy within health and social care organizations, aligning with international agreements like human rights conventions and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It emphasizes health literacy's role in empowering individuals to make informed health decisions and navigate health systems effectively. Key international documents, such as the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Agenda 2030, are discussed to illustrate the connections between health literacy and broader health and development goals. The WHO's advocacy for health literacy is highlighted, alongside national policies like those in Norway. Healthcare professionals are encouraged to familiarize themselves with relevant documents and guidelines to integrate health literacy effectively into their practices.
