Dancing My Mind was a unique two-day conference on October 11-12 2025 exploring how
dance affects the brain, from childhood through to old age. In a
collaboration between Karolinska Institutet, the Ballet Academy, and the
Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences, we blend inspiring
lectures, interactive workshops, and expert panels. We’ll explore how
dance can support – but sometimes also undermine – mental well-being and
cognitive function in both community and elite settings, and examine
the key elements that can make dance so beneficial for health, including
the role of artistry. Whether you’re a dancer, educator, researcher, or
health professional, this is a chance to connect, learn, and move with
researchers and dance professionals.
Speakers/Workshops were held by: Reyna L. Gordon (USA), Guido Orgs (UK),
Jennifer Cumming (UK), Gisela Nyberg and Maria Ekblom (Sweden), Åsa N
Åström (Sweden), Matthias Sperling (Sweden), Joakim Stephenson (Sweden)
